Chroma requires camera permission to function. If you previously denied access, re-enable it in your device settings and restart the app.
iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → Chroma
Android: Settings → Apps → Chroma → Permissions → Camera
Tap the filter selector at the bottom of the camera screen and choose one of the five modes: Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, Yakiniku, or Red-Green Enhance. Use the intensity slider to adjust the strength. Tap the toggle to compare with the unfiltered view.
Tap the white shutter button. Review the captured photo, then tap the Save button. The photo will be saved to your Camera Roll with the active filter applied. Chroma requires Photo Library write permission for this feature.
Type 1 (Protanopia) – Corrects for reduced red sensitivity (L-cone deficiency).
Type 2 (Deuteranopia) – Corrects for reduced green sensitivity (M-cone deficiency). The most common form.
Type 3 (Tritanopia) – Corrects for reduced blue sensitivity (S-cone deficiency).
Yakiniku Mode – Enhances red-green contrast in Lab color space to help distinguish doneness of grilled meat.
Red-Green Enhance – Amplifies red-green contrast for general everyday use.
Chroma uses Google AdMob to display ads. To comply with the EU's GDPR and California's CCPA regulations, the app requests your consent before displaying personalized ads.
iOS: Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) dialog is shown at launch. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Android: You can opt out of personalized ads via Settings → Google → Ads.
Chroma is free to use and is supported by advertising via Google AdMob. Three ad formats are used: a banner ad shown at the bottom of the photo review screen, an interstitial ad shown approximately every three photo saves, and an App Open ad shown at most once every four hours when returning to the app from the background.
No. All camera processing and filter application happens entirely on your device. No photos, camera frames, or personal data are ever transmitted to our servers.
Try the following steps:
1. Force-quit Chroma and relaunch it.
2. Restart your device.
3. Make sure you are running the latest version of Chroma from the App Store or Google Play Store.
