1. Overview
Chepics ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Chroma mobile application (available on iOS and Android). This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use Chroma, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
By downloading or using Chroma, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Camera Data
Chroma requires access to your device camera to display a live filtered preview. Camera frames are processed entirely on-device. No camera frames or live video are stored, transmitted, or shared with any server or third party.
2.2 Photos
When you tap "Save", Chroma writes the captured photo to your device's photo library. Chroma does not read existing photos in your library; it only writes new photos upon your explicit action.
2.3 Advertising Identifier
Chroma uses Google AdMob to serve advertisements. To enable personalized ads, the app may use your device's advertising identifier:
- iOS: IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers), accessed via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. If you deny the ATT prompt, non-personalized ads are shown. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android: Android Advertising ID (AAID). You can opt out of personalized ads via Settings → Google → Ads.
2.4 Consent Status (GDPR / CCPA)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom, Chroma presents a consent form powered by Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For users in California, consent is managed in accordance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Consent choices are stored locally on your device and processed by the Google UMP SDK. This applies to both iOS and Android.
2.5 Diagnostic and Crash Data
Chroma does not independently collect crash logs or analytics. On iOS, if you have enabled "Share iPhone Analytics", Apple may collect anonymized usage data per Apple's privacy policy. On Android, Google Play Services may collect anonymized crash and performance data per Google's privacy policy.
3. Advertising
Chroma is free and supported by the following Google AdMob ad formats:
- Banner ads – displayed at the bottom of the photo review screen.
- Interstitial ads – full-screen ads shown approximately every three photo saves.
- App Open ads – shown when you return to Chroma from the background, at most once every four hours.
Google AdMob may collect data such as device type, OS version, IP address, and advertising identifiers to deliver and measure ads. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Google uses SKAdNetwork for privacy-preserving ad attribution on iOS.
4. Third-Party Services
Chroma integrates the following third-party SDKs:
- Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) – ad delivery and measurement. Privacy Policy
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) – GDPR/CCPA consent management. Privacy Policy
We do not share your personal data with any other third parties.
5. Data Retention
We do not operate servers that store personal data. All on-device data (consent preferences, ad frequency timestamps) is managed by the respective SDKs and is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the app removes this data.
6. Children's Privacy
Chroma is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us at info@chepics.com.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- EEA / UK (GDPR): Right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to processing. To exercise these rights with respect to Google AdMob data, please refer to Google's Data & Privacy page.
- California (CCPA): Right to know, delete, opt-out of sale. To opt out of interest-based advertising, deny tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
For any privacy-related inquiries, contact us at info@chepics.com.
8. Security
Because Chroma processes all data on-device and does not operate external servers for user data, there is no server-side data to secure. We rely on Apple's iOS security model to protect data stored locally on your device.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of Chroma after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
